XTREME
Xtreme is a powerful CNC milling machine designed to set new standards of performance and precision in large plate processing and nesting. Its high power and extremely rigid structure allow the machine to reach unrivaled levels of removal, speed, precision and finishing.
It is ideal for a wide range of materials, even on very high thicknesses, including light metal alloys, titanium, composite materials, technical plastics, guaranteeing excellent results even in the most extreme applications.


Powerful and precise milling
Xtreme can be configured with two powerful 24,000 rpm electrospindles, 19 kW and 30 kW respectively.
The 30 kW electrospindle, in particular, is at the top of its category for power and removal capacity, guaranteeing absolute performance for the most demanding applications and the most demanding machining.

Tool change
Xtreme offers, as standard, 78 automatic tool change positions, ensuring maximum productivity, reducing tooling times to a minimum. The automatic, retractable system is designed to optimize tool change cycle times, eliminating unproductive times.
The system is also equipped with an automatic device for the length and diameter of the tool, which also allows to detect tool breakage and its state of wear.


Cooling
Xtreme is equipped with a double lubrication and cooling system for the contact area between the sheet and the tool. A pair of nozzles is integrated inside the large chip suction hood, ensuring effective oil/air delivery during milling with the hood completely lowered onto the table.
In the case of machining operations without using the hood, a second pair of nozzles, pneumatically operated, mounted on the sides of the Z-axis group, can be engaged directly from the control console, to ensure perfect lubrication in all working conditions.
Renishaw probe
Positioned inside the Z-axis group, safe from impacts and possible damage, Xtreme has a Renishaw probe, for measuring the piece, setting the origins and identifying the piece, after rotation and translation operations of the pieces.
The probe, mounted next to the electrospindle, is always available. It can be activated from the operator panel, without unnecessarily occupying positions in the tool change.
25 probing functions allow you to automate each piece positioning operation and identification of the machining origins.

EXTREME PRECISION
Xtreme has a skeleton of heavy-gauge electro-welded steel tubing, calculated and designed to ensure minimal vibration and resonance, extreme stability and rigidity both in processing and during the rapid movements of the heavy travel bridge.
All the machine components are chosen and manufactured to bring precision and smoothness of movement to the highest level.
A double-pinion gantry system cancels out the backlash of the rack-and-pinion transmission, also resetting backlash when reversing the direction of axle movement.
7 powerful motors, mounted on ultra-high-precision gearboxes, ensure perfect positioning of the bridge at every point on the working plane, permanently eliminating the problem of repeatability.
To go even further, a Renishaw scaling system is available on X,Y and Z, taking machine precision beyond all expectations.

WORKTOPFIXING SOLUTIONS
The work surface, up to 12,000 x 2,000 mm in size, made of milled and ground aluminum, 30 mm thick, ensures a perfectly flat work surface that is self-rectifying in case of collisions or wear, thanks to the control's built-in flattening program.
Workpiece and plate clamping is ensured by a powerful vacuum system, which allows the worktable to be divided into zones of 500x500 mm in size, each operable individually and in multiple configurations. The vacuum is generated by vane pumps, with inverter drive capability, each of which is dedicated to a specific section of the worktable. This solution separates suction air flows, optimizing pump efficiency and reducing turbulence.
In the case of using specific tooling such as vises, zero points or jigs, Xtreme's table has a series of barbed and threaded holes, allowing the table to be configured with extreme versatility, even being able to use vacuum and mechanical fasteners at the same time.


Safety and ergonomics
In addition to the protective barriers installed on the bridge, the machine is equipped with a laser scanner system with a double safety zone. The first one reduces the axis speed when it is exceeded, without interrupting the machining program. The second activates immediate machine lockout if a potential hazard is detected.
This "smart" solution ensures maximum operator safety without compromising machine productivity.
Xtreme offers high ergonomics, which is essential for handling and positioning large and heavy plates.
Standard on both sides of the machine are rollers on which the plate can be placed and slid to position it on the work surface.
For greater precision and ease of plate placement, there are calibrated, removable stops located on either side of the work pad.
CNC control
Xtreme is driven and controlled by powerful, reliable, state-of-the-art CNC systems. To animate its top of the line, RM Technologies chose FANUC and MITSUBISHI.
The control console, designed for maximum visibility and ergonomics, offers a large 27-inch touch screen panel and all major physical controls for feed and emergency control.


Suction and management of milling residues
Xtreme is equipped with an advanced milling waste management system that always ensures a clean work area. The electro spindle is equipped with a height-adjustable hood designed to be connected to an external vacuum system, thus ensuring effective collection of chips and dust generated during machining.
